May 17-20 -- Save the
date!
The Missoula Oblongata in conspiracy with Puppet Uprising is proud to present
a fractured, secretive, and dessert-enhanced production of William Shakespeare's
timeless classic work of shipwrecked proportions:
William Shakespeare's
The
Tempest
by William Shakespeare
Each act of this exquisite opus will be presented by a different performance
company, who will also provide you with a small dessert to enjoy. Indeed:
One play, five acts, five companies, five desserts, and beverages provided
throughout the evening. Needless to say, appropriate dress is required.
The line-up:
Mirandas 3 (Philadelphian members of The Missoula Oblongata
and Tribe of Fools)
Shoddy
Puppet Company (Not as shoddy as it sounds, puppetry from Philly)
The
Missoula Oblongata (Self-lit self-delight living in New England)
Wham City
(An unconscious collective from the notorious city of Baltimore)
The Black Willow Productions (Philadelphia's greatest madman)
What will happen? Most likely, Miranda will be wed to Ferdinand and Ariel
will finally get his freedom!
The Location:
In keeping with the tradition of the Missoula
Oblongata Shakespeare Repertory Theatre, this performance will be held
at a secret location which you, the public, are not allowed to know.
If you plan to attend, please meet at the Ellsworth-Federal subway stop on
the Broad Street Line. Go to the Ellsworth St. side of the platform (it will
say something like, "exit to Ellsworth St.). Do not, however, exit the
station. Someone will come to collect you from within the station shortly.
By shortly, we mean that at 8pm (sharp!) you will be escorted to the venue.
Please note, though William Shakespeare was indeed a fan of jokes, he is not
joking about this: SEATING IS LIMITED. IF YOU ARE NOT WEARING A RED CARNATION,
EVEN IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A TICKET AHEAD OF TIME, YOU WILL NOT BE ESCORTED.
Luckily for you, you can purchase tickets ahead-of-time here, on the internet.
May 17 is pay-what-you-think-it's-worth
night, to be followed by a grand opening night fete. There are no advance
tickets for this performance. What would be the point?
May 18-20 tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door. $15 for students/artists
either way.
Tickets purchased on-line will be held in your name at the box office. If
you have questions, please e-mail
skullpenny@hotmail.com with the subject line "Do I really have to
wear a red carnation?".
The Legend:
When the first Missoula Oblongata Shakespeare Repertory Theater Night was
held, we performed Macbeth in an underground ex-bowling alley in Montana,
which was by no means up to any sort of code. To keep from being shut down,
we kept the location of the event a secret, and invited guests to meet in
a public place, and identify themselves by wearing red carnations. The crowd
was then escorted to the secret location, where we had a surreptitious blast.
Nowadays, we perform mostly in places that the Fire Marshall approves of.
Still, the red carnations and the secret location have become an indispensable
part of Shakespeare Night, because people love to be included in any sort
of gratuitous intrigue and secrecy. It's what separates us from the animals.

Now that the show has opened, we are no longer accepting online purchases. Each night, there will still be a limited number of tickets available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. See you there!
