SARAH
LOWRY is a theater and dance artist
based out of Philadelphia. Aside from her time spent with the company, Sarah
has traveled nationally and internationally to pursue her artistic addictions,
which are many. Sarah has studied Pochinko Clown with master teacher
Sue Morrison and Lecoq-based physical theater and clown with Emmanuelle Delpech-Ramey
and Quinn Bauriedel. She also trained and worked at the Colorado College
Dance Festival for three summers, where she met and began her collaboration
with her mentor Donna Mejia, internationally acclaimed modern and tribal dance
teacher and performer. This work led Sarah to Smith College in Fall '08
where she worked as Mejia's teaching assistant and collaborator. Together
they created and performed Reach, a dance that combined modern techniques
with hip-hop and belly dance forms. Through Mejia, Sarah was introduced
to Rosangela Silvestre, founder and master teacher of the Silvestre Technique,
and was awarded a scholarship from the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship
at Haverford College to travel to Salvador, Brazil to study with Silvestre.Sarah
is a graduate of Haverford College in Haverford, PA, an alumna of the National
Theater Institute in Waterford, CT, and a certified Pilates Instructor of
the Kolesar Body Knowledge Technique. Most recently, at The Headlong Performance
Institute in Philadelphia, Sarah studied dance, choreography and physical
theater techniques with members of Headlong Dance Theater and the Pig Iron
Theater Company. She continues to collaborate with dancers and theater
artists around Philadelphia. Most recently, she was asked to perform
at Philadelphia’s Trocadero, in The Pig Iron Benefit Cabaret.
